A shower water filter should be your next purchase if you are concerned about water quality. If you have yet to use one of these devices, you will be amazed at the immediate improvement in how your hair feels and looks. Your skin is less likely to come out in an allergic reaction too.
Why use a shower water filter?
As you know our bodies will product natural oils to protect our skin and hair. Unfortunately the harsh chemicals contained in our water system strip these oils leaving our skin feeling itchy and our hair feeling hard rather than silky soft. The officials tell us the chemicals such as chlorine have to be present to provide us with clean water but they don’t tell us the price we pay in terms of our health.

But softeners don’t remove the pesticides and fertilizers that have entered our water supply. Our water is often recycled from that flushed down the toilet so it stands to reason that it would be contaminated. This is the reason such a strong chemical as chlorine is added.
If your water ever looks green or yellow and carries a strong smell, this is the chlorine and other disinfectants at work. Some people can suffer breathing problems and blame the air quality. But it is actually the fumes released by the water in which they bath that is causing the problem.
The good news is that you do not have to wash in bad water. Fitting a shower head filter system isn’t a big or expensive job. With most models you don’t have to be very experienced but you can always ask a plumber to fit it for you if you are worried. When deciding which filter to buy, look for one that removes lead, MTBE which is a fuel additive, parasites such as giardia and cryptosporidium and of course chlorine. You don’t want to use a shower head water filter that blocks the good minerals contained in our water supply as these interact with your hair shampoo to give you glossy locks.
Look out for manufacturer’s guarantees and preferably a brand name that you know and have received positive shower water filter reviews. Some of these filters will have massage units attached. These are helpful if you suffer from headaches which are caused by stress or tension. There are many different models on the market. You just have to choose the right shower water filter for your needs.
